Sometimes your builder (Not us!) leaves you with an awkward space, maybe a bare concrete slab with no real purpose. That is what we had here. The customers were debating between a completely enclosed room, or just a covered porch.
So with about $30,000 we were able to completely enclose this space and create a nice sitting room with a small deck leading to the backyard. With the massive windows, the room still feels spacious. Having the ability to open and close the windows gives you the flexibility to use the space almost all year long. We did not add any heating or cooling to the space, so the interior is finished with fiber cement panels and trim. This material can sustain the fluctuations in heat and humidity, unlike traditional drywall. The deck provides the perfect spot to park the grill and a chair!
